Woodman Museum was created in 1916 with an endowment from Annie E. Woodman of Dover NH.  Her mandate was to create a place where visitors could appreciate the sciences, the arts, and history, and that the museum created help connect visitors to the broader world.

Professionally run and curated, Woodman Museum is a nonprofit local gem with an eclectic set of collections including taxidermy, military history, history local to Dover NH, fine early American furniture, an extensive mineral collection, and works of art of all sorts — and this just touches on the surface!

The Woodman Museum campus itself is comprised of a lower downtown lot containing four historic buildings housing the collections.  One building is a garrison from the 1600s, the oldest house in Dover!  As you can imagine, the upkeep and running of four old houses is financially challenging; add the care and preservation of the collections on top of that and fundraising must always be a priority.
