Why should you support Children and the Arts?
Every third Saturday in May, the downtown streets of Peterborough come alive with the Children and the Arts Festival. Children of all ages delight in a variety of performances ranging from local talent to renowned entertainers. Throughout the day, hands-on art activities and face painting keep the excitement flowing, except for the one hour when all eyes turn to our Giant Puppet Parade. During the parade, the community gathers together to celebrate and marvel at the creative works of students, classrooms, schools, families, and organizations as they march their way through town.
The festival draws thousands of people each year from the Monadnock region and beyond. Over one hundred dedicated volunteers give their time and hearts to ensure its success year after year. Our mission is to provide a FREE festival for all that celebrates the art and creativity of the children of our community. Our goal is to host an event that welcomes all public, private, and homeschooled students, to provide an opportunity for local students to showcase their talents, and to create opportunities for professional artists, particularly local artists, to share their craft with our community.
Our volunteer-run committee works diligently to keep participation FREE for all attendees, ensuring everyone in our community can join in the festivities.
This year, we have an exciting opportunity: a $10,000 matching fund from a generous anonymous donor to help us raise funds for future Festivals and Lantern events. Double your impact today!
