Building Board Support

Board members can take your NH Gives campaign to the next level with a strong engagement plan. Organizations with highly engaged boards benefit not only by having a more successful campaign, but also by increasing overall board engagement because they feel like they are a part of something fun and successful that the organization has done.

Eight Steps to Increased Board Engagement

  1. Have a NH Gives kickoff or briefing at your next board meeting.
  2. Share regular updates with your board throughout the planning process and during the 24-hours of giving
  3. Provide board members with clear action steps they can take to support your giving day goals. Make it simple
  4. Engage board members as Peer-to-Peer Fundraisers by letting them know how much reaching their network can help.
  5. Encourage board member to support your goals through matching funds - either individually or by having each person contribute to a pooled "Board Match"
  6. Ask your board members to actively share your social media posts with their networks. Provide them with elevator pitches and email templates that they can use with friends, family and colleagues.
  7. Ask board members to help with stewardship after the event. Emails and phone calls from board members go a long way for stewardship.
  8. Thank your board members after the giving day for the support that they provided.
