I'm honored to seek your support for Five Rivers Conservation Trust in today's NH Gives event.
I'm doing so for several reasons:
1. Five Rivers Conservation Trust does so much to make this area special. Do you want "special"? Look at my grandson, Ben, blueberry picking with me at Carter Hill Orchard a couple of years ago. A thunderstorm had hit about a half hour before, and it was only our family in the blueberry patch, picking away -- and, in the case of Benny, throwing every blueberry he touched into his mouth. Why is Carter Hill Orchard around? Because Five Rivers helped conserve it years ago -- and that's only one of over 80 properties conserved and protected by Five Rivers around the Capital Region.
2. Five Rivers does a tremendous amount with a dollar. Five Rivers is a lean operation that accomplishes a great deal. They've set an ambitious goal for NH Gives, but if they reach it, it will allow them to do so much to meet their mission.
3. Give now and double your impact! Your donation to Five Rivers Conservation Trust will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000 thanks to matching funds from some of Five Rivers' most generous supporters. This means that your donation can go twice as far!
4. It matters. The farms, forests, and waterways of the Capital Region of New Hampshire are more than scenery: They are the source of our food, our clean water, our trails, and our sense of home. Five Rivers Conservation Trust works with landowners, towns, and neighbors to protect these essential places forever. We ensure that the land that sustains us today will sustain future generations tomorrow.

So please join me in making a gift today to protect more places that feed, inspire, and sustain us! And that give my little Benny blueberries to pick!
