Our focus/Story 2026
When Julie reached out a few weeks ago to ask if I'd like to support NicaLove again this year, for NHGives, I couldn't say "yes" fast enough. I have worked in animal rescue, and I am here to testify that Julie Burke's dedication to saving and helping animals is unmatched. The money you are donating to NicaLove today will go toward:
- spay and neuter services
- emergency veterinary care
- mobile outreach clinics
-
shelter and rehabilitation for rescued animals
Let's be real, the animal welfare world always needs financial support, no matter where it is located. Consider this, though, when choosing where to allocate your dollars: a spay/neuter in Nicaragua costs about $25. Just think about the power your donation will have to control animal population, through NicaLove. When a single spay/neuter in the U.S. can cost $500, you could help end unwanted reproduction for 20 animals through NicaLove for the same amount.
Please donate $5 to NicaLove through NHGives. Please ask your friends and co-workers to donate $5 to NicaLove through NHGives. The number of unique donors is really important - we could win up to a $5,000 incentive if we get the most.
Please do this for me, and now I'm going to do something for you. At the end of NHGives, I'm going to put the name of everyone who donates through my portal into a hat and draw one. That lucky person will get up to 20 gifts wrapped for free through my business, GILD, a Seacoast Concierge Services LLC company. This is about a $200 value. You simply can't turn down this offer - $5 for the doggies and kitties and horsies and the whole menagerie, in exchange for a chance to get your gifts wrapped by an expert.
Oh, that utterly ridiculous picture of me is about 20 years old. That's Oliver, my soul dog. The picture is from a church "yearbook," and yes, it was meant tongue-in-cheek, at least for me. Can't speak for Ollie.
Thank you, so very much.
