My Blue Ocean Story

As a board member at Blue Ocean Society, I hope to help pave the path for the next 25 years of research, education, and inspiring action in the Gulf of Maine ecosystem. However, my connection to Blue Ocean goes back further than my seat on the board. Blue Ocean was my very first internship, putting me on a path that led to a career in whale conservation and recovery at NOAA, where I work today to safeguard the same animals I became enamored with as an intern. I joined the board because I believe deeply in this organization's mission, and because I've seen firsthand how critical their work is to the health of our local environment. 

Blue Ocean has spent 25 years punching well above their weight. A small but mighty team conducting whale research, running 200+ beach cleanups a year, and inspiring thousands of children to care about the ocean is extraordinary work, and they do it all on a shoestring budget. Right now, they need us to give back more than ever- donor giving is down across the nonprofit sector as families navigate difficult financial burdens, and federal funding and grants for environmental organizations have been cut dramatically.
