Friends in Action's mission is to enhance the lives of people with developmental disabilities by creating inclusive social and recreational opportunities. I myself have been involved with Friends in Action for close to 20 years now. What started off as me volunteering in Portsmouth, NH playing pick up basketball with the kids has developed into some great friendships and me being a board member for Friends in Action. We hold an annual wiffle ball game and bbq, weekly basketball games, bowling nights, theater class, movie nights, dinner club and are even partnered up with UNH for "Wildcat Friends' to help those with developmental disabilities experience a normal social college experience.

Majority of kids with developmental disabilities are taken care of by school programs but as they get older there is no where for them to go to meet friends and have a normal social life that so many of us take for granted. This became so evident to me when I started speaking with parents of participants and have seen how much this program has changed their children's lives and theirs as well.
